Legislation focused on counties includes bills addressing occupational license fees, restaurant taxes, county audit costs, revenue diversification and annexation.

HB 475, a KACo county priority, was passed favorably today in the House.

UPDATE (Feb. 18): HB 212 passed unanimously through the legislature. The bill awaits action by the Governor. In anticipation of the bill becoming law, county reapportionment will not begin until May 2023. More information will be forthcoming.

HB 211 was heard for discussion only today during the House Standing Committee on Local Government.

HB 439, which would streamline basic training and continuing education requirements for deputy jailers, was brought forth for discussion in committee today.

The Kentucky Department of Insurance (DOI) reminds local governments that all Local Government Premium Tax ordinances and amendments must be filed 100 days prior to July 1 of each year.
