Salt auction will be held June 6-7

The Kentucky Association of Counties helps administer an annual salt auction to help counties save on procurement costs. Auction administrator Orbis estimates counties save around 20%.

County officials may sign up for this year’s reverse road salt auction, which will be June 6-7. Preregistration ends May 19.

Six auctions will take place, three on June 6 and three on June 7. Participants will be grouped for the auctions based on their locations. On June 6, the first auction starts at 10 a.m., followed by noon and 4 p.m. Wednesday’s auctions are at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. All times are in EDT.

County officials will need to submit an estimate, and local governments reserve the right to accept or reject any or all bids.
