Judge/executives, fiscal court members, county clerks, sheriffs and jailers are eligible for an annual financial incentive to participate in training events approved and certified by the Department for Local Government's County Officials Training Program.
County official participation in the program is voluntary. Elected officials can begin accruing hours once they take office. To enroll, complete and submit the participation to DLG through their website.
KACo offers a variety of trainings throughout the year eligible for program credit. To learn more about current offerings, visit KACo's Training and Education page.
Officials shall receive no more than one training unit per calendar year nor more than four incentive payments per calendar year by providing documentation of 40 hours of approved training. Each elected official can carry forward up to 40 hours of training credit into the following calendar year for the purpose of satisfying the minimum amount of training for that year.
