October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and KACo is proud to be recognized as a Cybersecurity Awareness Month Champion by the National Cybersecurity Alliance. As a Champion, KACo joins thousands of organizations across the country that are committed to promoting safer online practices and stronger cybersecurity awareness. Learn more here.
This year’s theme, “Stay Safe Online,” reminds us that good cyber habits do not have to be complicated. By taking small, consistent steps, each of us can help protect our counties, coworkers and communities.
Throughout October, we will focus on the Core 4, four simple but powerful actions everyone can take to strengthen cybersecurity:
- Use strong passwords and a password manager
- Turn on multifactor authentication (MFA)
- Keep software up to date
- Recognize and report scams
KACo will share cybersecurity tips and resources each week to help you put these practices into action. We encourage county officials and staff to participate, ask questions and make cybersecurity part of your daily routine.
Cybersecurity is everyone’s job. Together, we can build a stronger and more secure digital environment for Kentucky counties.
