2024 KACo Insurance Grant Application
The Kentucky Association of Counties is proud to offer an opportunity once again to members of our Workers Compensation Fund and All Lines Fund to apply for grants to help reduce losses in connection with these two insurance funds.
Eligibility
All members of the KACo Workers Compensation Fund or the KACo All Lines Fund are invited to apply for grants for future purchases made with intent of helping the member reduce losses in connection with either of these two insurance funds. This includes purchases of equipment, training and consulting services.
Application Process
Grant submissions will be accepted through the online form, available on KACo’s website under the Loss Control Services tab. Type your responses to the application questions in the online form and submit the document directly from the website.
We’ll send an email confirmation once the application has been received. The application will remain available during the application period, which will be Aug. 15-Sept. 16, 2024. Members may submit one application during this period.
Helpful Hints
- This grant is an insurance loss control product. Applications should seek to reduce losses connected to insurance coverage your agency holds through either of the above two insurance funds.
- Applications should be limited to one type of product or service. *NOTE: Avoid including a variety of different products or services within one application as doing so may lessen the likelihood of receiving an award.
- Focus applications on something truly needed and difficult to pay for.
Deadline
To be considered, applications must be submitted via the electronic submission process, directly from our website, by 4:30 p.m. EST, Sept. 16, 2024. Submissions made after Sept. 16, 2024, will not be considered.
Priority Areas
All applications for projects that are designed to reduce insurance losses within either of the above insurance funds will be considered. However, those intended to help reduce losses connected to the following will be given priority attention:
- Vehicle accidents
- Lifting injuries
- Law enforcement liability related to detention center, sheriff’s office and county police operations
*To clarify: This category seeks to reduce bodily injury and/or property damage claims/lawsuits initiated by third parties, against the insured agency, due to agency law enforcement operations.
- Cybersecurity
Grant Amounts
Grant awards are limited to a maximum reimbursement of $10,000 to be contributed by KACo. This is an 80% reimbursement program, so members will be required to contribute (at least) an additional 20 percent to any grant awarded.
Decision Timeline
Applicants will be notified via email if their grant has been approved or not following review of all applications. The review and notification processes are lengthy and will likely take several weeks. *NOTE: Eligible purchases awarded should be initiated after the date of any award issued, as this program is designed to address future purchases.
