The Kentucky Association of Counties, Inc. (KACo) requests proposals from which to purchase a new Chevrolet Traverse or similar vehicle.

About KACo

KACo is a non-profit Kentucky corporation organized in 1974 to, inter alia, render technical, informational and other services to the county governments of Commonwealth of Kentucky for the improvement of county government and the general welfare of the people of Kentucky.  Working with its affiliated entities, KACo provides services, products, resources and technical assistance to assist counties in matters of finance, risk management, insurance, technology, governance and other critical areas, enabling them to operate efficiently, transparently and in compliance with legal requirements.  KACo is managed by its Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

Responses shall be submitted by email to procurement@kaco.org no later than 4:00 p.m. est., April 21, 2026.  KACo anticipates that the award, if any, to the successful respondent(s) will be made on or before April 30, 2026, and all responses shall be valid through that date with KACo reserving the right to extend the date.  Additional information regarding this solicitation may be obtained by contacting Rich Ornstein, KACo Attorney, at 800.264.5226 or rich.ornstein@kaco.org.

Requirements for these vehicles include:

• New 2026 Model Year;
• Third row seating;
• Automatic Transmission;
• Appropriate Safety Features, including, but not limited to:
• Tire Pressure Monitoring;
• Rear Park Assist;
• Floor Liner or Interior Protection Package;
• Blind Spot Monitoring or Blind Zone Steering Assist;
• The vehicles purchased must be able to be serviced at a Franklin County, KY dealership service department; 
• Front Wheel or All Wheel Drive (preferred);
• Neutral color preferred, (e.g. black, white or grey); and
• Non-Cloth Seats or Cloth Seats Designed for Easy Cleanup (e.g. Evotex Seats).

KACo may be utilizing a 2018 white Ford Flex (good condition) with 81,911 miles as of April 9, 2026. 

The vehicles will continue to be operated until the transaction is completed. 

The trade-in vehicle is located at the KACo office, 400 Englewood Drive, Frankfort, Kentucky. You are welcome to make an appointment to see the vehicle in person by contacting Mr. Ornstein.  Upon request, KACo will e-mail interior and exterior vehicle pictures and will provide the VIN.

KACo reserves the right to:

• Utilize additional information contained within any response;
• Waive irregularities in any response;
• Reject any or all responses; and
• Negotiate with any party regarding their response.
