Opioid Settlement: Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission

KRS 15.291 established the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission (KYOAAC). The Commission is tasked with distributing the state’s (Kentucky’s) half of opioid abatement funds across the Commonwealth via grant processes. In addition, 40 KAR 9:020 establishes the process for the Commission to collect annual reports for counties and cities receiving settlement funds.

Visit the KYOAAC website here.

Local Reporting

Any county receiving opioid settlement funds directly must provide an annual report to the Commission. Each county must designate an individual to complete the annual report, which should be completed by August 31 each year.

In the annual report, a county will submit financial and program impacts regarding opioid settlement funds disbursed in the fiscal year. Counties are required to report on the use of funds per KRS 15.293 and 40 KAR 9:020. The information reported will be compiled by the Commission and shared on a public facing dashboard.

A guide to reporting can be found on the KYOAAC website here.
