2026 AI Webinar Series


Artificial Intelligence is transforming how people operate, but many officials are still navigating what it means for their county operations. This three-part webinar series is designed specifically for county government officials who want practical, responsible, and actionable guidance on AI. Participants will build foundational knowledge, explore governance and policy considerations, and learn how to use AI tools to improve efficiency and service delivery.

Participants who complete all three sessions will receive a Certificate of Completion in AI for County Government.

Class 1: AI 101 for County Leaders: Foundations, Facts & Myths

What is artificial intelligence and what is it not?

Participants will learn:
  • The fundamentals of AI, machine learning, and generative AI
  • Common myths and misunderstandings about AI
  • Risks, limitations, and ethical considerations
  • How AI differs from traditional automation

 

Class 2: Building Responsible AI Policy for Your County

As AI adoption increases, counties must establish clear governance frameworks to ensure responsible, ethical, and compliant use. This session walks participants through the key components of developing and implementing an AI policy tailored to county government operations. We will explore legal, ethical, transparency, procurement, and risk management considerations.

Participants will learn:

  • Why counties need a formal AI policy
  • Core elements of an effective AI governance framework
  • Risk management and compliance considerations
  • Data privacy, security, and transparency standards
  • Steps to evaluate and approve AI tools

Attendees will leave with a practical roadmap and policy framework they can adapt for their own county.


Class 3: Optimizing County Operations with AI: Practical Tools for Efficiency & Impact

AI can immediately improve productivity, service delivery, and internal operations. This hands-on session focuses on practical, responsible ways counties can use AI to increase efficiency and effectiveness across departments. We will explore real-world examples and demonstrate how AI can support staff, not replace them.

Participants will learn:

  • How AI can streamline administrative workflows
  • Improving communication, reporting, and documentation
  • Enhancing constituent services and responsiveness
  • Identifying high-impact, low-risk starting points
  • Change management and staff adoption strategies
