Participants will receive information to help prevent losses to buildings through discussion of current code requirements; risk management and compliance program implementation; enhancement; and documentation. The training will focus on losses related to fires, hail, wind and lightning. Premises liability also will be discussed. 

Discussion topics: 
  • Fire protection systems – fire pumps, automatic sprinkler systems, gaseous suppression, fire hydrant flow test reports, fire extinguisher service frequency, security/watchman service, fire alarms
  • Special equipment, chemicals, storage – storage rooms, boilers, chemical processing units, dust collection systems, cooling towers, flammable liquid usage and storage, flammable gas usage and storage, transformers greater than 5,000 kVA, hydraulic equipment
  • Human element program review – contingency plans, housekeeping, pre-emergency plan, cutting – welding (hot work), infrared thermography, preventative maintenance, emergency organization, in-house fire safety inspections, management of change, smoking restrictions, fire protection maintenance

*Note: Tours will include some or all of the following, as time allows: county government, emergency services, road department and animal care and control buildings. It is possible tours may involve accessing areas of these buildings normally closed to public traffic, so appropriate/comfortable footwear and clothing is recommended. Group transportation options will be provided to assist with travel between these facilities.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
