From Community Events to Emergency Response: How Counties Access National Guard Support

The head of the Kentucky National Guard has asked the Guard, through its Director of Military Support, to stay connected with local communities and be ready to help here at home when needed. The Guard runs a Joint Operations Center in Frankfort, which works closely with the State Emergency Operations Center to coordinate these efforts. This presentation will explain the laws that guide what the Guard can and cannot do when supporting communities in Kentucky. Presenters will walk through how county governments can request help from the Kentucky National Guard whether it’s for an emergency or a planned community event.
