As AI adoption increases, counties must establish clear governance frameworks to ensure responsible, ethical, and compliant use. This session walks participants through the key components of developing and implementing an AI policy tailored to county government operations. We will explore legal, ethical, transparency, procurement, and risk management considerations.
Participants will learn:
• Why counties need a formal AI policy
• Core elements of an effective AI governance framework
• Risk management and compliance considerations
• Data privacy, security, and transparency standards
• Steps to evaluate and approve AI tools
Attendees will leave with a practical roadmap and policy framework they can adapt for their own county.
