Sean Curry, Property Valuation Administrator for Green County, earned the vote of his fellow elected county officials Thursday as he was elected 1st Vice President of the Kentucky Association of Counties (KACo). His installation to the KACo Executive Committee took place during the association’s 51st annual conference in Louisville.
Curry becomes the first PVA to serve on KACo’s Executive Committee, and he's the first elected county official from Green County to hold a seat on the committee.
“I am a true believer that a stronger Kentucky starts at the county level,” said Curry, who is in his fourth term as PVA. “There is no more rewarding job than that of a locally elected official, and I'm blessed to serve Green County.”
Curry’s professional activities include leadership roles within both the Kentucky and national property assessing communities. He previously served as president of the Kentucky Chapter of International Association of Assessing Officers, and within the Kentucky PVA Association, he served as legislative vice president and is the current executive vice president.
"I am excited for Sean to join the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors," KACo Executive Director Jim Henderson said. "As an experienced PVA, I have no doubt that Sean will bring a fresh perspective and new ideas to the table as KACo continues our advocacy for initiatives and policies that strengthen county government."
Prior to his PVA service, Curry worked as a loan officer, realtor and auctioneer. His community service includes the Greensburg Rotary Club, Leadership Green County, the Greensburg-Green County Chamber of Commerce, Green County Cattlemen's Association and Green County Industrial Foundation.
Curry begins a four-year term as a KACo officer, joining the executive leadership team with Union County Judge/Executive Adam O’Nan (KACo President), Oldham County Magistrate Michael Logsdon (KACo President-elect), Grant County Magistrate Jacqalynn Ammer Riley (KACo 2nd Vice President) and Harlan County Judge/Executive Dan Mosley (KACo Immediate Past President).
"I look forward over the next several years to working with my fellow committee members and colleagues across the state. I want to learn and contribute what I can, not only to make Green County a better place, but all 120 counties," Curry said. "That's our overall goal as elected officials. We strive to give back to our communities and make sure everyone's lives are better."
