The next deadline for Kentucky counties to submit their opioid settlement certification form to the state is Monday, Sept. 30.
Local governments are required to submit a quarterly certification form to the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission. This form, available on the Commission’s website, must be completed and submitted by an authorized official.
In the certification, the recipient must affirm, under penalty of perjury, that all expenditures of the settlement funds are in full compliance with KRS 15.291 and 15.293, as well as any accompanying regulations. The statutes govern how the funds are to be used, focusing on addressing the opioid crisis through prevention, treatment, recovery services, and other approved initiatives.
The certification process allows the Commission to monitor the proper allocation and utilization of the settlement funds to achieve the intended impact in combating the opioid epidemic across the state. Failure to comply could result in penalties or disqualification from future disbursements.
