Notify KYTC of road impacts

As counties and community organizations make plans for spring and summer events, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is reminding local officials to notify the Department of Highways of traffic impacts on state routes.

Activities that may require road closures include parades, fairs, festivals, 5k runs, movie filming and more.

KYTC requests that counties contact their Department of Highways district office at least 60 days prior to the event to coordinate scheduled maintenance and permitting. The district office will likely request a certificate of liability insurance in conformance to KYTC’s requirements, documentation of the local agency’s support of the event and, if applicable, information related to traffic control and detours. In some cases, the district office may direct the county to complete a TC 99-1A application for encroachment permit.
