Pew Launches New Resource for State and Local Leaders

The new website offers insights that can help leaders make more evidence-based policy decisions. Local government leaders can use this resource center to explore new ideas, identify promising practices, and inform their own strategies for creating a more effective government.

For example, policymakers can read about Maryland’s Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, who created a uniform way to measure youth mentoring outcomes to help agency leaders better measure the impact of specific programs at the community level.

In 2014, the Pew-MacArthur Results First Initiative identified five key components of evidence-based policymaking:

·         Budget development

·         Implementation oversight

·         Outcome monitoring

·         Targeted evaluation
