A new virtual reality training system called the WRAP system is now available from the Kentucky Association of Counties for county law enforcement and jail staff.
The WRAP system allows members to train in a simulated environment to improve their skills related to de-escalation, use of force, response to illnesses or injuries and the use of firearms and less lethal weapons.
Any department requesting to utilize the WRAP system must send at least one trainer to a mandatory training class.
The class is free, but you must register in advance. You may send more than one trainer if you wish.
KACo will provide the mandatory training for law enforcement and jails on separate dates and the training will be offered at two locations:
Law Enforcement
- Mar. 12 - Frankfort
- Mar. 19 - Madisonville
Jails
- Mar. 13 - Frankfort
- Mar. 20 - Madisonville
The one-day training will include WRAP operation overview, safety, legal review, knowledge base and tactics, scenario review, scenario coaching and testing and documentation. Lunch will be provided.
