Montgomery County Circuit Court Clerk Tanya P. Terry has been chosen by her colleagues to lead the Kentucky Association of Circuit Court Clerks for 2025-2026. She was elected president at the Circuit Court Clerks Spring College that took place May 14-16 in Florence.
“It is such an honor to be president of the Kentucky Association of Circuit Court Clerks,” Terry said. “During my terms as secretary, vice president and president-elect of the association, I have been given the knowledge and tools that will help me in this role. I look forward to working with the other officers and executive board in making decisions that will benefit and strengthen the clerks and judicial system.”
Terry succeeds Owen County Circuit Court Clerk Margaret Forsee as president.
She was elected Montgomery County circuit court clerk in 2010, bringing with her more than 30 years of experience in legal support, including roles in a private law office, the local commonwealth attorney’s office and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. She is also involved in her community as a member of the Clark County Hospital Board, Montgomery County Drug Court Team and Mt. Sterling-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce.
Terry assumes her new role alongside her fellow elected officers:
President-elect – Jefferson County Circuit Court Clerk David Nicholson
Vice President – Fleming County Circuit Court Clerk Amy Saunders
Secretary – Bell County Circuit Court Clerk Colby Slusher
Treasurer – Bullitt County Circuit Court Clerk Paulita A. Keith
Circuit Court Clerks
Circuit Court Clerks are responsible for managing the records of Kentucky’s Circuit and District courts. Circuit clerks are constitutionally elected officials from all 120 counties and serve a six-year term. They provide professional recordkeeping, receive money due the courts, pay money to required parties and the state, record legal documents, provide legal documents and other legal materials, maintain the jury system, administer oaths and handle affidavits.
