Livingston presents presidential scholarships

By Susan Riddell, Editor
Scholarship recipients receive $2,000 annually up to four years.

KACo President David Livingston presented two high school students in Scott County with annual KACo Presidential Scholarships recently.

Great Crossing High School’s Bryan Munoz and Scott County High School’s Aubrey Roark each received a scholarship valued up to $8,000.

Both excellent students in the classroom, Munoz and Roark each are Law and Justice students with the district’s inquiry-based Elkhorn Crossing School. They also participate in many extracurricular and community service activities.

Munoz plans to attend Centre College, while Roark plans to attend the University of Kentucky to study business management with a criminology minor on a pre-law track.

Scholarship applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and must permanently reside and attend school in Scott County to be considered. They must attend an in-state college or university or a two-year technical college in the fall following graduation.

A scholarship committee composed of KACo board members chooses the recipients each year. The current president and any board member from the same county are not eligible to serve on the committee.

“I know this wasn’t an easy decision for the scholarship committee, but members are to be commended for these selections,” President Livingston said.

“My wife, Nicole, is a long-time educator in Scott County, and she remembers both students fondly from their days at Western Elementary School,” he added.  “We are excited for Bryan and Aubrey, and we know they will work hard to achieve their goals.”

The 2025 Presidential Scholarship is set to be presented in Harlan County.
