Kentucky urban and community forestry assistance grant, workshop information

Communities and organizations are encouraged to apply for between $1,000 and $250,000. Larger proposals will be considered. Consideration will be given to ensure smaller communities have equitable access to funding.

The Kentucky Division of Forestry will launch its Kentucky Urban and Community Forestry Assistance Grant deadline has been extended to April 5.

Approximately $1.8 million will be available to local governments, 501(c)3 non-profit organizations, and educational institutions to support work increasing access to trees and green spaces, and the many benefits they provide.  

Funded through the Inflation Reduction Act, all funding is intended to be delivered to or used to serve underserved and disadvantaged communities.

Communities and organizations are encouraged to apply for between $1,000 and $250,000. Larger proposals will be considered. Consideration will be given to ensure smaller communities have equitable access to funding. No match funding will be required.

Eligible projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Support local government and nonprofit staffing
  • Urban tree canopy assessments
  • Tree planting
  • Urban forestry workforce development
  • Storm readiness, response and recovery program development
  • Urban heat island analysis and extreme heat mitigation
