Election security is a top priority for our county clerks, and in every county in Kentucky, our clerks are reassuring Kentuckians that their vote is safe and protected.
The Kentucky County Clerks Association has posted a two-page document outlining the measures each county clerk office takes when focusing on election security.
Kentucky County Clerks:
- use paper ballots for every voter for verification.
- audit elections to ensure accurate results.
- require trained, bipartisan election officers at all polling locations.
- use voting equipment that does not have the ability to connect to the internet.
- secure every ballot drop-box and absentee ballot deposited.
- test each piece of voting equipment before every election.
- use only certified voting equipment and systems.
- maintain accurate and up-to-date voter lists.
- verify voter information when issuing mail-in absentee ballots.
- check ID.
- support transparency with observation of election processes.
- only register U.S. citizens who live in Kentucky and will be 18 by Election Day.
- investigate and prosecute cases of election fraud and voter intimidation.
