Communicators encouraged to network and train with colleagues across Kentucky

Brenna Angel, the associate director of communications for KACo, has been named Vice President of Administration/President-elect of the Kentucky Association of Government Communicators (KAGC). The professional organization recently elected its board of directors for 2023.

“Government communicators are on the front lines of public service, answering questions from residents and the media, ensuring public transparency, and telling the story of government in action,” Angel said. “The training seminars and networking opportunities offered by the KAGC have always been a great way to learn new skills and share best practices.”

In her role on the board, Angel is responsible for overseeing KAGC membership. The association is open to current/former government employees at the federal, state or local level in Kentucky whose primary job duties involve disseminating information to public or internal audiences. Students pursuing a communications degree in Kentucky and professionals who work closely with government communicators are also eligible to join.

“The KAGC board voted to waive the annual membership fee in 2023, so now is a great time to get involved. We are currently planning speakers and events that are sure to be interesting and informative,” Angel said.

Government communicators – which can include public information officers, social media managers, agency spokespersons, community outreach coordinators, and others – are encouraged to join the KAGC by filling out the online membership form.
