Important public official bond information

All bonds and invoices will be mailed upon receipt of applications.

Bonds are required by law for most elected officials and many appointed public officials to guarantee faithful performance.

Liberty Mutual Surety specializes in providing bond solutions for the multiple classes of public officials. We work closely with independent agents and brokers to provide their customers with the bond they need.

Newly elected officials will need a bond in place before their term begins Jan. 2, 2023.

Please note, even if a prior bond was in place with KACo Insurance Agency, it is scheduled to lapse at the end of the calendar year, and a new bond is needed for the next term of office.

Public official bonds required by statute for term beginning Jan. 2, 2023:

  1. Constable (KRS 70.310)
  2. Coroner and Deputy Coroner (KRS 72.010)
  3. County Clerk (KRS 62.055)
  4. Jailer (KRS 71.010)
  5. Judge/Executive (KRS 67.720)
  6. Sheriff (KRS 70.020 and KRS 134.230)

Public official bonds required by statute for term beginning Dec. 5, 2022:

  1. PVA (KRS 132.400)
