Henderson County Sheriff, Ed Brady, left, poses with Kentucky Sheriffs' Association Executive Director Jerry Wagner at the 2019 KACo Legislative Recetion.

KACo would like to wish a happy retirement to Henderson County Sheriff Ed Brady, who is retiring after 52 years in law enforcement.

Brady has served four terms as sheriff in Henderson County, and his retirement will be official July 1.

“It just seems like the right time to go,” Brady told The (Henderson) Gleaner. “I am surrounded by some of the best law enforcement officers I've ever worked with. I still love law enforcement, but everyone has a time and I want a chance to enjoy life after retirement.”

Brady was first a dispatcher for the Kentucky State Police and then became a trooper as soon as he was eligible. After a decade, he became a public affairs officer for KSP until 1991.

Soon after, he became police chief for Henderson, and his stint as Henderson County Sheriff followed in 2007.

He served as president of the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police for two terms, and he later served on the legislative committee of the Kentucky Sheriffs’ Association.
