On Wednesday, Governor Andy Beshear announced that $300 million will be made available to counties and cities for COVID-19 expenses from Kentucky's CARES Act funding.
“First, of the CARES Act money that we’ve received in the first wave, we’ve talked about making an initial $300 million available to cities and counties,” said Gov. Beshear. “We’ve worked with KACo – the Kentucky Association of Counties – and the Kentucky League of Cities about establishing a formula for what goes where. We are going to get that moving so that people can get mainly reimbursements from COVID-related costs and they can also cover portions of law enforcement, first responders and firefighters with those dollars.”
KACo and KLC received a letter from the Governor earlier this week, pledging the $300 million in assistance to counties and cities for COVID-related expenses. Read the letter HERE.
Both KACo and KLC have been working with the Governor and the Department for Local Government on a plan to distribute those funds quickly as well as guidance on how those dollars can be spent. KACo stands ready to help, so stay tuned and watch for more info.
