Deadline approaching for Kentucky Product Development Initiative

By Kayla Carter, Research Associate
Applicants must submit a letter of intent by Aug. 5

Legislators established the Kentucky Product Development Initiative (KPDI) during the 2022 Legislative Session in a statewide effort to support upgrades at industrial sites.

The state budget included $100 million in funding for the program, which is available to local governments and economic development authorities through a competitive application process, with each county eligible for a maximum funding amount calculated based on population.

Regional projects are encouraged, allowing multiple counties to pool funding.

A fact sheet providing an overview of the program and a breakdown of the maximum funding available for each county, is available here.

Applicants must submit a Letter of Intent by Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. EST to KPDI@KAEDOnline.org and should use the subject line: “PDI LOI – County Name – Property Name.”

A template for the letter of intent and more information on how to apply are included on the KPDI website.
