Committee leaders announced for Kentucky Senate

Senate Republicans welcome new members

Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers (R-Clay County) this week announced the legislators who will serve as chairs and vice chairs of Senate standing committees and statutory committees during the 2025 legislative session.

“We have a wide variety of legislative needs with ample leadership opportunities.  I am confident in each of these individuals and in the deep bench we already have,” Stivers said in a press release. “I’d also like to welcome our newest members to the Senate. I know each of them personally and am confident in their leadership.”

The following are designated chairs and vice chairs of the Senate standing committees:

Agriculture Chair Sen. Jason Howell (R-Calloway County), Vice Chair Sen. Gary Boswell (R-Daviess County).

Appropriations & Revenue Chair Sen. Chris McDaniel (R-Kenton County), Vice Chair Sen. Amanda Mays Bledsoe (R-Fayette County). 

Banking & Insurance Chair Sen. Jared Carpenter (R-Madison County), Vice Chair Sen. Rick Girdler (R-Pulaski County).

Economic Development, Tourism, and Labor Chair Sen. Phillip Wheeler (R-Pike County), Vice Chair Sen. Shelley Funke Frommeyer (R-Campbell County).

Education Chair Sen. Steve West (R-Bourbon County), Vice Chair Sen. Lindsey Tichenor (R-Oldham County).

Commission on Race and Access to Opportunity Co-Chair Sen. Amanda Mays Bledsoe (R-Fayette County).

Education Assessment and Accountability Review Subcommittee Co-Chair Sen. Matthew Deneen (R-Hardin County).

Government Contract Review Committee Co-Chair Sen. Donald Douglas (R-Jessamine County).

Investments in IT Improvement and Modernization Projects Oversight Board Co-Chair Sen. Gex Williams (R-Boone County).

Juvenile Justice Oversight Council Co-Chair Sen. Brandon J. Storm (R-Laurel County).

Legislative Oversight and Investigations Committee Co-Chair Sen. Greg Elkins (R-Clark County), Vice Chair Sen. Jason Howell (R-Calloway County).

Committee assignments go into effect when the General Session gavels into the 2025 legislative session on Jan. 7.
