2024 primary election results for county officials

A handful of County offices were on the ballot for the 2024 primary election in five counties plus Commonwealth’s Attorneys in 10 judicial circuits.

Results

Circuit Court Clerk

Circuit Court Clerks had contested primary races in Lincoln, Marion, Union and Warren counties – three Republican primaries and one Democrat:

  • Lincoln (Republican) – Angelia Doolin won over incumbent Dwight Hopkins.
  • Marion (Democrat) – Tammy Edlin won over Lindsay Strong (neither are incumbents).
  • Union (Republican) – Jo Sheridan won over incumbent Trish Tackett.
  • Warren (Republican) – Brandi Duvall, the incumbent, won over challengers Bonnie Williams and W. Gordon Turner.

Jailer

Jailers had only one contested primary – a three-way race in Franklin County for Democrats. Tracy Hopper will become the new jailer after her win over Chuck Geveden and Mark McKeehan. None of the candidates were incumbents.

PVA

PVAs had only one contested primary – a two-way race in Franklin County for Democrats. Incumbent Wil Rhodes was appointed last year and will continue to serve after his win over Dorothy Gatewood.

Commonwealth’s Attorneys

  • 2nd Circuit (Republican) – Donna L. Dixon won over Eddie Jones (neither is an incumbent).
  • 14th Circuit (Republican) – Kelli Kearney won over incumbent Sharon Muse Johnson and Jack Keith Eardley.
  • 20th Circuit (Republican) – Rhese David McKenzie won over Troy Breeze and Joseph J. Merkel (none is an incumbent)
  • 41st Circuit (Republican) – Haley Jo Fields won over incumbent Gary H. Gregory.
  • 44th Circuit (Republican) – Mike Taylor won over incumbent Lisa L. Fugate.
  • 49th Circuit (Republican) – Mike Lindsey won over incumbent Corey Morgan.
  • 50th Circuit (Republican) – Justin Johnson won over Sarah Bryant (neither is an incumbent).
  • 53rd Circuit (Republican) – Hart T. Megibben (incumbent) won over David Wayne Bullock.
  • 55th Circuit (Republican) – Amanda Hernandez Troutman won over Nathan Ray Batey (neither is an incumbent).
  • 57th Circuit (Republican) – Matthew Leveridge (incumbent) won over Lee Whittenburg.
