2023 KACo Insurance Grant application now open!

The Kentucky Association of Counties is proud to offer an opportunity once again to members of our Workers Compensation Fund and All Lines Fund to apply for grants to help reduce losses in connection with these two insurance funds.

Eligibility

All members of the KACo Workers Compensation Fund or the KACo All Lines Fund are invited to apply for grants for future purchases made with intent of helping the member reduce losses in connection with either of these two insurance funds.  This includes purchases of equipment, training, and consulting services.

Application Process

Grant submissions will be accepted through our online form, available on KACo’s website under the Loss Control Services tab here.  Type your responses to the application questions in the online form and submit the document to us directly from the website.  We’ll send you an email confirmation to let you know your application has been received.  The application will remain available during the application period, which will be August 15 – September 15, 2023.  Members may submit one (1) application during this period.

Helpful Hints

  • This grant is an insurance loss control product.  Applications should seek to reduce losses connected to insurance coverage your agency holds through either of the above two programs.
  • Applications should be limited to one (1) type of product or service.  Including multiple products or services within one application should be avoided.
  • Focus your applications on something you truly need and need help paying for.

Deadline

To be considered, applications must be submitted via the electronic submission process, directly from our website, by 4:30PM (Eastern) September 15, 2023.  Submissions made after September 15, 2023, will not be considered.

Priority Areas

All applications for projects that are designed to reduce insurance losses will be considered.  However, those intended to help reduce losses connected to the following will be given priority attention:

  • Vehicle accidents
  • Lifting incidents
  • Law enforcement liability related to detention center & sheriff’s office operations
  • Cybersecurity

Grant Amounts

Grants are limited to a maximum reimbursement of $10,000.  Members will be required to contribute an additional 20 percent to any grant awarded.

Decision Timeline

We’ll let you know via email whether you have, or have not, been selected to receive funding for your grant after review of all applications in the aggregate following the September 15, 2023, deadline.  NOTE:  Eligible purchases awarded should be initiated after the date of any award letter we may issue, as this program is designed to address future purchases.
