Job Summary

The Multimedia Specialist for the Kentucky Association of Counties (KACo) is responsible for creating, producing and managing high-quality multimedia content that supports the Association’s communications, advocacy, member engagement and operational efforts. This position plays a key role in visually telling the story of Kentucky counties through video, photography and graphic design.

Working collaboratively across multiple departments, the Multimedia Specialist will develop content that enhances KACo’s brand, promotes programs and events, and communicates complex information in clear, engaging formats for county officials and stakeholders across the Commonwealth. 


Duties and Responsibilities

- Multimedia Content Creation

  • Plan, produce, and edit video content, including interviews, event coverage, training materials and promotional pieces
  • Assist in developing multimedia campaigns to support legislative priorities, programs and member engagement efforts
  • Capture and edit photography for use in publications, websites and social media
  • Work in collaboration with the graphic designer to develop graphics and visual assets for digital and print communications, including presentations, reports and marketing materials
  • Develop short-form and long-form content tailored for multiple platforms (social media, website, email and events)
  • Maintain consistency with KACo’s brand standards across all visual content 

- Event and Program Support

  • Provide on-site multimedia support for conferences, trainings and events, including video recording, photography and live or same-day content production
  • Assist in developing event-related media such as promotional videos, highlight reels and recap content
  • Coordinate with staff to ensure timely coverage and distribution of event materials 

- Content Management and Distribution

  • Organize and maintain digital media libraries, including video, photo and graphic assets
  • Assist with posting and managing multimedia content across KACo’s digital platforms, including website and social media channels
  • Ensure content is optimized for accessibility, usability and platform-specific requirements

 - Equipment and Technical Management

  • Maintain and manage multimedia equipment, including cameras, lighting, audio and editing tools
  • Stay current on multimedia trends, software and best practices to continuously improve content quality and efficiency

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, multimedia production, journalism, marketing or a related field preferred
  • At least two years of experience in multimedia production, video editing, photography or digital content creation 

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong photography and videography skills, including lighting and audio
  • Proficiency in video editing and design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro or similar tools)
  • Experience producing content for digital platforms, including social media and web
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners
  • Self-motivated and strong work ethic
  • Willingness to travel and provide on-site support for events across Kentucky
  • Preferred experience with motion graphics and animation
  • Preferred experience with live streaming or webinar production
  • Preferred Part 107 drone license
  • Preferred familiarity with website content management systems and design
  • Preferred understanding of public sector communications and government-related issues
  • Preferred familiarity with Kentucky county and state government
