Grayson County is a community with momentum — and it’s looking for the right leader to build on it. Positioned at the crossroads of the Western Kentucky Parkway with a growing manufacturing and healthcare base, the county seat of Leitchfield is a community genuinely invested in its own future. This is a newly created position, giving the right candidate a rare opportunity to shape it from the ground up.
The Economic Development Director serves as the strategic leader of the Grayson County Economic Development Board and the primary driver of business growth, revitalization, and community investment. The goal is to develop and implement strategies that enhance economic vitality, strengthen partnerships, and position Grayson County as a competitive destination for investment and job creation.

Primary responsibilities:
• Develop and execute a comprehensive economic development strategy with measurable goals that align with the Economic Development Board’s mission
• Serve as the lead advocate for business attraction, retention, and expansion by identifying target industries and creating initiatives to attract new businesses and support existing employers
• Identify, pursue, and manage state and federal grant opportunities to fund community and business investment
• Build and maintain a business retention and expansion (BRE) program, including regular outreach to existing employers
• Lead revitalization efforts, including incentive programs, façade improvement initiatives, and redevelopment of underused properties
• Promote Grayson County as a desirable location for business investment and oversee branding, marketing materials, and outreach campaigns
• Cultivate relationships with the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development and regional partners to maximize available resources, programs, and funding
• Coordinate with community partners, including the Industrial Development Board, Chamber of Commerce, and tourism offices, to align efforts, leverage resources, and maximize impact
• Report to the Economic Development Board of Directors and provide regular updates and recommendations on pipeline activity, outcomes, and strategy Qualifications Required
• Bachelor’s degree in economic development, public administration, business, urban planning, or a related field
• Minimum of five years of experience in economic development, business development, public administration, or a closely related field
• Demonstrated success in business recruitment, project management, or community development
• Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with elected officials, business owners, and community stakeholders
• Knowledge of economic development tools, incentives, and funding mechanisms
• Ability to analyze data and market trends to inform decision-making
• Strong leadership and strategic planning abilities, coupled with excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills Preferred
• Master’s degree and/or Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation
• Experience with Kentucky economic development programs and resources
• Grant writing and management experience
• Background in revitalization, small business development, or public incentive financing
