Internships
The Kentucky Association of Counties (KACo) is a non-profit, non-partisan association of elected county officials in all 120 counties. KACo provides services and products to support, educate and advocate for the interests of counties and elected county officials.
KACo is offering a paid internship opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students with aspirations to work in public policy or a related field. Interns will develop a deep understanding of county government and the wide array of policy issues that impact counties including transportation infrastructure, criminal justice, local government finance, taxes, etc. Interns will work directly with policy and research staff, along with other departments including government affairs and communications.
In the summer and fall, interns will work on research and policy development in preparation for the legislative session, along with various research requests from county officials. In the spring, interns will get to experience the fast paced environment of a legislative session. Interns will have opportunities to network with county officials and publish original articles. Job duties will include data analysis, composing policy briefs, communicating with county officials, administrative tasks, etc.
To be considered for an internship position at KACo, please fill out the form below and upload a copy of your resume, a cover letter and a writing sample. If you have any questions, please contact Research Associate Kayla Carter, kayla.carter@kaco.org.
