Intake Screening: Digging for Hidden Dangers
This course will emphasize the significance of an effective screening at intake and outline the key requirements, observations, and inquiries correctional staff should be making during this process to avoid potential medical emergencies, suicide attempts, injuries to staff/inmates, and even death. We will discuss various tips on how to improve your staff’s interview & observation skills during this process to improve the accuracy of information they obtain from the inmates at this time.

1 – 3 p.m.Medical Liability: A Joint Effort of Custody and Health Staff
In this course we will discuss the importance of understanding that the delivery of health care in a correctional facility is a joint effort of custody and health staff and is best achieved through trust and cooperation. We will discuss the jail’s responsibility in these areas, as well as your medical providers on your behalf.
